Welcome to my personal website, I'm flattered that you're here! I try to showcase some more interesting aspects of my life and share useful information.

Experience

NASA Software Robotics and Simulation Division

Currently I am working as a contractor at the NASA Johnson Space Center. I work in the robotics and software division and specialize in rover power systems and avionics. Currently, I'm working on the VIPER rover, that will travel to the lunar south pole to collect data that will be used to map water resources on the moon.

My division has been known to create other amazing robots including the Space Exploration Vehicle (SEV) and Robonaut. Several of the division's robots are housed at the Space Vehicle Mockup Facility at Johnson Space Center. Regular tours are available through Space Center Houston.

Also, since you're here, there is this One Direction music video that features several of our creations.

Car of the Future Drift

During my graduate studies, I held a Graduate Research Position at the Center for Advanced Vehcicular Systems at Mississippi State University. My undergraduate research was mostly on the Car of the Future project. Over three years I was also involved with several other projects where I developed several skills including:

  • Automotive Harnessing
  • Printed Circuit Board Design
  • High Voltage Energy Storage systems
  • 3D Modeling and Printing

HALO Project Banner

My graduate research is focused on CAVS's Halo project. Previously, I was responsible for converting the vehicle into a "drive by wire" platform and electrifying it. Current efforts are directed towards developing this vehicle into an off-road autonomous vehicle.

Some of my achievements with Halo were:

  • Multi-LiDAR Calibration
  • LiDAR + IMU Calibration
  • Kalman filtering to estimate location in GPS-denied areas

In addition to all of the exciting research that I was able to do at CAVS, my graduate education was focused on RADAR, digital signal processing, and machine learning. One of my favorite group projects that I felt was the culmination of all of these fields was developing micro-Doppler radar to detect and classify human breathing patterns. This system was based on descriptions of systems available to law enforcement and military use (scary!). I worked specifically to design the RADAR system including the transmit waveform and signal processing. The system used two horn antennas and a software defined radio. The other half of my team developed the Support Vector Machine classifier that was able to identify rested, nominal, and excited breathing of a human.

I was incredibly fortunate to have access to my graduate advisor Dr. John Ball. In addition to being an outstanding person, I found his attention and dedication to his research and his students unmatched throughout my experience at MSU.
